- How do I place a bet?
-
Select your sport using the sport menus on the left hand side of the sportingbet homepage. You will then be presented with a list of all events we are currently accepting bets on for this sport. Follow the links through until you find the coupon containing the bet you wish to place. Click on the price for the selection you wish to bet on and this will add your chosen bet to the bet slip in the top right hand corner of your screen. Enter your stake in the unit stake field and press "place bet".
You will then get a pop up asking you to check your bet before confirming. Once you have double checked your bet, press "OK". The system will now either place your bet or return an error message if there has been a problem.

If your bet is not accepted for any reason, your bet slip will show an error message at the top of the screen informing you what the problem is. Hide Info - What are the different odds types and how do I change my display?
-
There are two ways in which you can change your preference. At the top of a betting coupon there is a drop down menu allowing you to select your odds type. By changing this you are changing your default setting and this will be saved in your preferences. You can also change it by clicking on "My Account" and "preferences". Use the drop down menu to select the format in which to display your odds.
You can choose to display odds in one of three different formats on our website – fractional, decimal and American. The difference between them is in how you calculate your winnings.
Decimal odds - European odds:
Decimal format is the most common - simply multiply your stake by the odds to get your total return including your stake. Let's say that you have placed a 100€ bet on Liverpool against Chelsea at odds 1.80.- PAYOUT: 100€ * 1.80 = 180€
- PROFIT: 180€ - 100€ = 80€
Very easy to calculate! That is why decimal profit is the most common format at online bookmakers.
Fraction format: - UK odds:
Fractional odds shows the profit that you will have if your bet wins – simply multiply your odds by your stake to get your total profit. It is very easy to convert fractional odds to decimal odds – add 1 to fractional amount and you will get decimal odds. Let's say that you have placed a 100€ bet on Liverpool against Chelsea at odds 4/5.- PAYOUT: 100€ * (1+ 4/5) = 180€
- PROFIT: 100€ * 4/5 = 80€
American Odds
First of all, there are two types of American odds, positive (E.g 250) or negative (E.g -250).
Positive American odds
The positive odds show you how much you will profit from a stake of $100. If your stake is 100$ then it is easy to calculate the winnings, but since most bets will not be for exactly $100, let's see how to calculate the payout and profit with normal stake.- PAYOUT: Stake x (1 + US odds/100)
- PROFIT: Stake x US odds/100
- Example: 50$ bet on draw at odds +250
- PAYOUT: 50$ x (1 + 250/100) = 175$
- PROFIT: 50$ x 250/100 = 125$
Negative American odds
The negative odds show you how much you need to stake to win $100. Formula for payout and profit calculation would be:- PAYOUT: Stake x (1 + 100/US odds)
- PROFIT: Stake x 100/US odds
- Example: 50$ bet on Home win at odds -250
- PAYOUT: 50$ x (1 + 100/250) = 70$
- PROFIT: 50$ x 100/250 = 20$
